About the event
Come meet author Brittany Petish and hear excerpts from her new book Leo and the Soft Place to Land. Take the opportunity to learn about ProjectChimps (fun fact - there are currently 104 chimps living at the Project Chimps sanctuary!) - and specifically, all about the Chimp who inspired the book. Brittany and Project Chimps will be speaking, answering questions and signing books.
This heartwarming children's book was inspired by Leo, a resident of Project Chimps, one of the country's largest sanctuaries for chimpanzees retired from biomedical research. The event offers readers the opportunity to meet the author, learn about Leo's real-life journey, and discover how compassion and second chances can change lives.
Representatives from Project Chimps will accompany Brittany and share information about the sanctuary's mission of providing lifelong care to chimpanzees retired from research and to answer questions about chimpanzee behavior, conservation, and the sanctuary's residents.
